RainCube’s first storm data is its attempt at predicting precipitation from space. 

The satellite detects objects by using radar, and the satellite's umbrella-like antenna sends out specialized radar signals. These signals bounce off raindrops, bringing back a picture of what the inside of the storm looks like.
