FIREX-AQ

​Hi there Scientist, welcome back! Today we are talking about the Fire Influence on Regional to Global Environments and Air Quality (FIREx-AQ), a mission dedicated to gain a better understanding on the impact of fire emissions and assess a satellite’s capability to detect fires. The goal of the FIREX-AQ mission is to provide measurements of the trace gas and aerosol emissions (for wildfires and prescribed fires), relate this data to fuel and fire conditions at the point of emission, characterize these conditions relating to plume rise, and follow plumes downwind in hopes to advance our understanding of chemical transformation and air quality impacts.
