GRACE was retired in 2017 when one of the spacecraft ran out of battery power. The twin spacecrafts both successfully re-entered the atmosphere. GRACE lasted for 15 years, 10 years longer than what was expected. NASA launched GRACE-FO, or GRACE-Follow On, in 2018 in order to continue the collection of the same data GRACE provided us with during her working days.
